Victorian Holbeinesque Emerald and Diamond 18 Carat Gold Pendant, circa 1870


This magnificent antique Victorian Holbeinesque pendant features a beautiful hexagonal step-cut natural emerald in the center with an estimated weight of 3.60 carats, embellished with two old mine cut diamonds on top and underneath, suspended from a detachable pendant loop also set with an old cut diamond in the centre. The frame is beautifully encrusted with four old mine cut diamonds and two square shaped natural emeralds, with quatrefoil enamelled decorations in between, terminating to a drop of a similar design. The drop is centrally-set with a pear shaped natural emerald estimated to an approximate weight of 1.20 carats, surrounded by four old mine cut diamonds, all mounted in 18 carat yellow gold. The diamonds come to a total approximate weight of 3.50 carats. Circa 1870, England.
